(By the way, if you have a pet affected I do have a program that may be able to help, I have a 100% success rate in saving dying animals although I have never advertised that program which is Thought Shifting(TM) for pets. Did you know that at the end of 2006 we had imported over $2.6 billion in agricultural products from China? This is the nation that now wants to ship broiled (cooked) chicken into the U.S. aiming at another single market over $1 billion. Fortunately, advocate groups, such as the United Poultry Growers Association, are fighting the plan. Lucius Adkins, president of UPGA, has openly stated, "They're already killing our pets. Do we want to eat their food?"
This furor started in April when a significant number of U.S. household pets began suffering kidney failure and died. No one knew why healthy dogs and cats were suddenly succumbing to their pet food. After a U.S. investigation, it was disclosed by several processors in China that their wheat gluten, a filler and integral ingredient of pet food, had been "spiked" with melamine, a cheap additive that increases the protein count, but not the quality of protein. "Greed" was rearing its ugly head because melamine, a plastics additive, is much cheaper than soy, corn or wheat protein. Wheat gluten has been exported to U.S. and Canadian pet food manufacturers for several years, but the picture was now turning ugly with few answers to why the melamine addition was causing deaths.
On May 1, scientists at the University of Guelph in Canada made a startling discovery. (continued...)
